Mindbody alternatives for studios in the US

Last verified: 26 September 2026

This page is for a class-led studio in the US that is looking beyond Mindbody. It sets out what Mindbody publishes, five questions worth asking any vendor, and six options side by side: StudioFly, Momence, ABC Glofox, WellnessLiving, Mariana Tek and Arketa.

We make StudioFly. We’ve included it, and we’ve tried to be fair to everyone else: the options aren’t ranked. Every fact about another product carries a numbered source, mostly that vendor’s own pages, and the date the page was last verified is at the top.

Mindbody is a trademark of its owner. StudioFly is not affiliated with or endorsed by Mindbody. Other product names on this page belong to their owners.

Choose StudioFly if

  • You want every plan’s price and what it includes published in US dollars, with a free trial, no card needed and no setup fee
  • You want leads and CRM, classes, invoices, email campaigns, and products and inventory in one workspace
  • Members paying online through PayPal, on your own PayPal business account, works for your studio
  • You message members by WhatsApp and email rather than text messages
  • You want every location from one login, with a Location Performance view by branch
  • Members book a place in class, and the member portal in any browser is enough for now

Look elsewhere if

  • You need card, ACH or card-terminal payments in your booking system
  • You text members for reminders or campaigns
  • Clients must choose a particular machine or a numbered spot
  • You need a branded app in the app stores today
  • You want a consumer marketplace listing, or family accounts
  • You need per-state or per-item sales tax rates on invoices
PRICING

What each one publishes.

Mindbody

  • Viewed from India on 26 Sep 2026, the US pricing page says “Starting at $99 USD/month per location”. Mindbody’s own US articles (last updated 28 Aug and 16 Jul 2026) and the Internet Archive’s capture of the same page on 24 Sep 2026 say $79 USD a month per location, on Starter. The figure shown may depend on where the page is viewed from, so ask for the US price in writing.1,2,3,4,5
  • Starter, Accelerate and Ultimate each say “LET’S TALK” on the pricing page, with no tier price: quote only, as of 26 Sep 2026. The US article lists Accelerate and Ultimate as “Contact Mindbody for pricing”.1,3
  • UK: “Starting at £89/month per location” (viewed from India), which Mindbody’s UK article ties to Starter.6,7
  • No setup fee on any plan, and unlimited users per location; the price rises with each added location. A branded app, premium implementation, custom data conversion and Technical Account Management are priced separately. Virtual classes: livestreaming from $49 a month and on-demand video at $99 a month (viewed from India).1,8
  • Mindbody Payments: the rates article tells US businesses to email Mindbody for US rates, and the pricing page says the rate depends on the plan. UK rates are published: 2.19% + 20p card-not-present, 1.99% + 10p card-present and 1.49% + 20p for Bacs Direct Debit. There’s no monthly, setup or contract fee for Mindbody Payments, and fees come out of payouts.9,1,10
  • Mindbody app listing fee: 20%, capped at $30 (or 30 in local currency), only on the first purchase by someone new to your business.1
  • Contract: the Terms of Service set a 90-day initial term that renews in 30-day periods, unless the Agreement says otherwise, with at least 30 days’ notice to end it. The pricing FAQ says it “depends on your plan and billing terms”.39,1,41

StudioFly (US dollars)

  • Growth: $99 a month, or $999 a year
  • Pro: $149 a month, or $1,499 a year
  • Enterprise: $199 a month, or $1,999 a year
  • Prices are in US dollars and exclude applicable taxes. Every plan includes one location and unlimited members, with a 14-day free trial. See pricing
HOW TO COMPARE

Five questions worth asking.

  1. What will you pay a month, per location?

Ask for the written monthly total: the plan, each extra location, add-ons such as a branded app or text messages, and payment processing. If a pricing page may change with where it’s viewed from, get the US price in writing.

  2. How will members pay you?

Check which methods run through the system (cards, ACH bank debit, digital wallets, PayPal or a card terminal), who processes them, whether the rates are published or quoted, and whether fees can be passed on to members.

  3. How is sales tax handled?

Set up a class pack and a retail product in the demo and look at the invoice: one rate or several, per item or per location, and whether tax is included in the price.

  4. How will you reach members?

Find out what your plan includes for email, text messages, WhatsApp and a branded app, which of them are add-ons, and whether texts come in bundles or are billed per message.

  5. What does the contract say about leaving?

Read the initial term, the notice period and how prices can change at renewal, and ask whether a full data export is included or paid, what it contains and how long you have to request it.

THE ALTERNATIVES

Options worth comparing.

StudioFly

  • Every plan’s price and what it includes is published: Growth, Pro and Enterprise in US dollars, with a 14-day free trial, no card needed and no setup fee.
  • One workspace for members, leads and CRM, classes, invoices, email campaigns, and products and inventory, with WhatsApp messaging on your own number. CRM and product management are on every plan; WhatsApp on your own number and Email Marketing Premium are included on Enterprise and add-ons on Growth and Pro.
  • Members pay online through PayPal on your own PayPal business account, including auto-renewing memberships (Pro and Enterprise). Stripe, ACH and text messages (SMS) aren’t available.
  • Owners see every location from one login, with a Location Performance view by branch; extra locations are paid add-ons. The Full Website API (Enterprise, or an add-on on Pro) takes bookings and sales on your own website.
  • AI Business Pack: AI insights, a business assistant and a WhatsApp AI agent (Enterprise, or an add-on on Growth and Pro).
  • Email, ticket and phone support on every plan. Tickets get an AI reply around the clock, and a person replies within 2 business hours. Enterprise adds a dedicated customer success manager for onboarding, training and handholding.
  • There’s no consumer marketplace and no choice of a particular machine, and the mobile apps are coming soon.

Consider StudioFly if published US-dollar plans, one workspace for leads, classes, invoices and inventory, and PayPal payments suit your studio. Look elsewhere if you need card terminals, ACH, text messages, a consumer marketplace or machine booking.

StudioFly pricing

Momence

  • Viewed from India on 26 Sep 2026, the live pricing page publishes no plans or prices (“Let’s talk pricing”): pricing is quote only.52
  • Payments run on Stripe, through a new Stripe account created from inside Momence; direct debit covers ACH in the US and BACS in the UK.53,54
  • Its inbox handles two-way SMS, in-app messages, email, and Instagram and Facebook DMs from one place.55
  • With spot booking, clients choose their exact reformer or mat position from a room map, and each class is capped to the equipment count.56
  • A branded app costs $250 a month on top of the Momence subscription and is published under the studio’s name on the App Store and Google Play.57
  • Clubessential Holdings announced its acquisition of Momence on 29 Jan 2025, and Xplor Technologies closed its merger with Clubessential Holdings on 30 Mar 2026; the site footer now reads “© 2026 Xplor Momence”.58,59,52

Consider Momence if Stripe payments with ACH or BACS, texting from one inbox and room-map booking matter; ask for a written quote, since the live pricing page shows no prices.

ABC Glofox

  • Viewed from India, the plans page shows one starting price, “$99 per month”, and its FAQ says from $99 USD a month per location; Essential, Boost and Elite say “Request Pricing”.60,61
  • In the US, credit, debit, ACH and digital wallets (Apple Pay and Google Pay) are accepted on the website, member app and point of sale.62
  • Two-way SMS is on Boost and Elite, for locations in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK.63
  • Spot Booking lets members reserve a specific bike, mat or reformer on an interactive room map, and change it before class.64
  • The Custom Branded Member App is an optional add-on on Essential and Boost and included on Elite.60
  • An ABC Fitness Solutions affiliate completed its acquisition of Glofox on 25 Aug 2022.65

Consider ABC Glofox if integrated US payments with ACH, two-way texting and room-map spot booking fit your studio; tier prices need a quote.

WellnessLiving

  • Viewed from India, the pricing page’s Pay Monthly view shows Starter $69/mo, Business $199/mo and BusinessPro $349/mo, with a dollar sign and no currency code; Enterprise says “Call us”.66
  • Integrated card processing needs an application to one of its associated processors (Paragon, Paysafe, Nuvei or PayArc in the US); optional ACH debits are available to US and Canadian customers.67,68
  • For US and Canadian customers, transactional SMS notifications are free with no limit, and each marketing SMS costs $0.05.69
  • Book-a-Spot lets clients select a specific asset, from Business up.66
  • The White Label Achieve Client App is an add-on on Starter and Business and included on BusinessPro and Enterprise; the White Label fee is $209 USD per location a month.66,70
  • Regional toll-free support numbers are listed for North America and the United Kingdom.71

Consider WellnessLiving if you want to see plan prices before a demo, free transactional texts in the US and asset booking; check the processor application and add-on fees.

Mariana Tek

  • Viewed from India on 26 Sep 2026, the pricing page shows three packages (Core, Core + Growth and Full Growth Bundle), each with “Book a demo” and no price: pricing is quote only.72
  • Card payments run through Stripe at Stripe’s standard flat rate, with nothing taken on top; its own Mindbody comparison page states 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.72,73
  • Custom-branded iOS and Android apps are included from the Core package.72
  • Pick-A-Spot layouts let customers select a specific spot in class.74
  • Support hours are published in EST: email Monday–Friday 6:00 am–8:00 pm and weekends 9:00 am–5:00 pm, and chat Monday–Friday 7:00 am–5:00 pm.75
  • Xplor’s timeline lists its acquisition of Mariana Tek in November 2019, and Xplor closed its merger with Clubessential Holdings, Momence’s owner, on 30 Mar 2026.76,59

Consider Mariana Tek if a branded app in every package, Pick-A-Spot and a published Stripe rate suit your studio; ask for a quote and the onboarding timeline.

Arketa

  • Viewed from India, the pricing page shows Individual at $49/mo, billed annually, plus a 3% transaction fee and Stripe fees, with a free trial; Studio Core, Studio Growth and Studio Suite say “Custom”, with a demo for pricing.77
  • Clients can pay by ACH from a US bank account, when the studio’s Stripe account is based in the US and has ACH enabled.78
  • Every account includes 10,000 marketing emails and 2,500 SMS credits a month at no extra charge; transactional messages are counted separately.79
  • When spot booking is on for a class, clients choose their spot from a room map at checkout.80
  • Studio-plan live chat runs 24 hours Monday to Thursday, with Friday and weekend hours in EST, and phone callbacks Monday to Friday.81
  • The branded app is a white-label app published under the studio’s name in the App Store and Google Play, sold as a separate add-on.82

Consider Arketa if you teach solo and want a published plan with a free trial, or want ACH and bundled texts; Studio plans need a demo for pricing.

IN FAIRNESS

Where Mindbody is the better choice.

You want card, ACH and in-person payments in one system

Mindbody Payments takes cards, ACH bank transfers, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna and Tap to Pay, and integrated payments are offered in the US and the UK, with UK card and Bacs rates published. Through StudioFly, members pay online through PayPal; Stripe isn’t available, so there’s no ACH bank debit or card terminal.10,11,9

You want sales tax per item, or UK VAT built in

US sales-tax rates are applied to each service and product (up to five rates), UK tax-inclusive pricing can print your tax registration number on invoices and receipts, and Mindbody Payments describes built-in VAT and tax compliance. StudioFly sets one tax rate on member invoices, with no per-state or per-item rates.14,15,10

You text your members

Email and text confirmations and reminders come with Accelerate and above, and Ultimate adds automated text marketing with a monthly text bundle. StudioFly doesn’t send text messages (SMS); member messages go by WhatsApp and email.1

You want a branded app built for you now

Mindbody builds a branded app and publishes it to the App Store and Google Play: an add-on on Accelerate and Ultimate, and included in Ultimate Plus. StudioFly’s mobile apps are coming soon; members use the member portal in any browser.29,1,16

Clients need a numbered spot

Pick-a-Spot lets clients choose a numbered spot in a room layout, on Accelerate and Ultimate. In StudioFly a spot is a place in the class, not a particular machine.19,1

You want a consumer marketplace listing

Intro offers can be promoted in the Mindbody app’s “Deals” section, and the app’s listing fee applies only to a new client’s first purchase. StudioFly has no consumer marketplace.28,1

You want a UK contracting entity and an uptime SLA

UK customers contract with MINDBODY, Ltd. (England and Wales). The Service Level Agreement sets 99.9% uptime, with service credits on request for customers with 12 consecutive paid months.39,40

You want onboarding included and paid account management on top

Every plan gets one-on-one onboarding and training at no extra cost, and a dedicated Technical Account Manager is available as a paid subscription in hourly packages.1,38

You run a multi-location or franchise brand

A corporate dashboard covers every region and location, with cross-location reports and KPI comparison in Analytics 2.0; the Enterprise Dashboard is for enterprise subscribers.32,34,35

SWITCHING

Moving from Mindbody to StudioFly.

A realistic plan, step by step. Nothing here needs to happen in a hurry.

  1. Export what you have

Before you give notice, export what Mindbody’s reports allow: most business information exports to Excel from reports, and the client email list from the Mailing Lists report. A full subscriber data export (CSV files of clients, pricing options, autopay contracts, sales and attendance) is a paid service only for customers who are canceling; the cancellation agent gives the price, and it’s completed within five business days after verification. Some data, such as encrypted credit cards, comes out only in that export. The export FAQ gives 25 days from cancellation to request it and the backup article 30 days after the subscription ends, so confirm the deadline. Mindbody asks for at least 30 days’ notice before the end of the term, and a branded app’s Apple developer account is canceled separately. (Sources 42, 43, 44, 41, checked 25 and 26 Sep 2026.)

  2. Set up StudioFly

Create your class types, recurring classes, membership plans, packs and staff roles, so the structure is ready before members arrive.

  3. Import your members

Bring member records across with a spreadsheet (CSV or Excel) import, and check the imported records before you use them.

  4. Plan payments

Saved cards and recurring payments usually can’t be moved between payment providers, so connect your PayPal business account and plan how members will pay their next fee through PayPal.

  5. Choose a switch date

Pick a quiet week, tell members the date and what changes for them, and move bookings over on that day. How long it takes depends on your member count, your plans and how much history you move.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

Your questions, answered.

Want to talk through your own setup?

Let’s have a conversation
How should a US studio choose a Mindbody alternative?

Start with what your studio can’t do without: how members pay (card, ACH or PayPal), sales tax on invoices, text messages, a branded app, and whether clients must pick a numbered spot. Then compare the written monthly total per location, the contract terms and how your data comes out. The options on this page aren’t ranked; ask each vendor to show your own schedule and payments in a demo.

Which of these alternatives publish their prices?

StudioFly publishes every plan’s price in US dollars. Viewed from India on 26 Sep 2026, WellnessLiving’s pricing page showed Starter $69/mo, Business $199/mo and BusinessPro $349/mo on monthly billing; Arketa showed Individual at $49/mo billed annually, with Studio plans “Custom”; ABC Glofox showed one starting price, “$99 per month”; Mindbody showed a starting price per location, with each tier “LET’S TALK”; and Momence and Mariana Tek showed no prices. (Sources 66, 77, 60, 1, 52, 72, checked 26 Sep 2026.)

How much does Mindbody cost a month?

Mindbody’s US articles say plans start at $79 USD a month per location, on Starter, and the Internet Archive’s capture of the US pricing page from 24 Sep 2026 shows the same figure. Viewed from India on 26 Sep 2026, the live pricing page said “Starting at $99 USD/month per location”, so the figure shown may depend on where you view it from. Accelerate and Ultimate are “Contact Mindbody for pricing”. In the UK, plans start at £89 a month per location. Add-ons, extra locations and payment processing are priced separately. (Sources 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, checked 26 Sep 2026.)

Who are Mindbody’s competitors?

Mindbody names its own: its sitemap lists pages comparing Mindbody with Momence, bsport, Vagaro, Glofox, Arketa, Mariana Tek, Hapana, Square Appointments, WellnessLiving, Zenoti, Kenko and Exercise.com. Five of them, Momence, ABC Glofox, WellnessLiving, Mariana Tek and Arketa, are on this page alongside StudioFly. (Source 50, checked 26 Sep 2026.)

What happened to Mindbody?

Mindbody continues as a brand of Playlist. Mindbody introduced Playlist as the parent brand of Mindbody, Booker and ClassPass on 4 June 2025, saying each business would keep its products and services. Playlist and EGYM agreed to merge on 15 January 2026, and the merger closed on 31 March 2026, with EGYM becoming a Playlist subsidiary alongside Mindbody, Booker and ClassPass. Earlier, Vista Equity Partners completed its acquisition of Mindbody on 15 February 2019, and Mindbody completed its acquisition of ClassPass on 15 October 2021. (Sources 47, 48, 49, 45, 46, checked 26 Sep 2026.)

How do I plan a move from Mindbody?

Export reports and your client mailing list before you cancel, and decide whether you need Mindbody’s paid subscriber data export, which is only for customers who are canceling. The export FAQ gives 25 days after cancellation to request it and the backup article 30 days after the subscription ends, so confirm the deadline with the cancellation team. Mindbody asks for at least 30 days’ notice. Then set up StudioFly, import members from a spreadsheet, connect your PayPal business account and pick a quiet week to switch. (Sources 42, 43, 44, 41, checked 25 and 26 Sep 2026.)
